Values:

Cultural Humility: A constant awareness of systems of oppression, critical self-reflection, and a commitment to examining my use of power both personally and professionally.

Collaboration: Professionally I want to be aware of the power imbalance folks feel in the room and describe my role as "collaborator". Together we, hopefully, will build trust and safety through transparency and mutual respect.

Accountability: Interpersonal accountability and taking ownership for any harm I have caused, regardless of my intentions. Holding others accountable, including clients, friends, family, colleagues, and community members. On a larger scale, attempting to hold institutions accountable for upholding systemic oppression.

Respect: Approaching folks with empathy and respect, seeking to understand individuals and communities. Being aware of and unlearning ways the mental health field has weaponized mental health care towards marginalized populations and how that is covertly woven into the education system.

Anthurium is the strongest plant on Earth, blooming year round. Anthurium is resilient, thriving with consistent and thoughtful care. Anthurium’s bloom represents strength and perseverance. When we are ready to give ourselves and our relationships the care required to start therapy, we too can find strength, persevere and bloom much like the Anthurium.

Sam (She/They) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Madison, Wisconsin. Her professional career has been inspired by her own personal identities, experiences and commitment to their collective community.

In the therapy space there is no judgement. It is a safe space to explore your past and present, your patterns of behavior and what you want for yourself. Together we will process and gain insight to better understand your experiences, your relationships, and the systems that impact you. Collaboratively, we will create a path forward, developing new coping strategies, setting boundaries, and challenging old patterns that no longer serve you and your relationship.

You are the expert of your life. Sam will help you gain insight, challenge you, and support you through the process.
